State of Emergency in South Korea

During the evening of the 3rd of December local time, President Yoon declared a state of emergency martial law in South Korea. Demonstrations were held in the area of the country’s national assembly, and short thereafter the assembly voted to overturn the decision. President Yoon confirmed at 04:30 local time that the emergency martial law will be overturned. South Koreas Lieutenant General stated in a public statement that there is no heightened risk from North Korea. 

Strikes and demonstrations are expected during the 4th of December in the country. The Swedish Embassy is following the events closely and will update when more information becomes available.
