Mandate of the institute

Within the framework of the overall goals of Sweden’s foreign policy and international development cooperation, the Swedish Dialogue Institute for the Middle East and North Africa has the following mission:

• The Institute is responsible for promoting increased contact between Sweden and other European countries and countries in the Middle East and North Africa.
• In its activities, the Institute is to address issues that are important for political, economic and social development in the region, or for relations between the countries in the region and the rest of the world, or that help increase mutual understanding in the areas of culture and religion.
• The Institute is to promote the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership within the European Union.
• The Institute is to promote the objectives for international development cooperation set by the Riksdag (Parliament).
