Ambassador Jan Lundin had the pleasure to hand over certificates awarded to e-trainers of "Sectoral Approach to Local Economic Development", within the program "Support to Local Self-Governments on the Path of EU Accession-Second Phase", financed by Sweden, and implemented by the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM).
The Swedish Ambassador to Serbia Jan Lundin stated that Sweden has cooperated with the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalites since 2001 and that their organization is a long-term partner whose goal is "strengthening the association and its internal capacities and organization".
"Since 2011, we have put more emphasis on the issue of European integration and the preparation of local self-governments and SCTM for Serbia's future membership in the EU," ambassador Lundin said. He added that Sweden has since been focusing on Serbia's support to improve the quality of services for citizens in local governments, environmental protection and gender equality. He estimated that the cooperation has had good results in these areas at the local level.
Sweden has focused on the sector of local economic development, because it is seen by citizens as one of the key priorities, and at the same time it is a significant condition on the path of joining the EU, according to Ambassador Lundin.
