Acceptera alla Endast nödvändigaThe official ceremony of the launch of the Child grant for children aged 0-2 years old, was held in Lalaua Village, Nampula province. The grant aims to reduce the vulnerability of children by promoting their development, improving their health and diet and the access to basic social security services.
Lalaua is one of the districts of Nampula with the highest poverty rate and one of the highest rates of child malnutrition. This new initiative will help improve the wellbeing of all the children aged 0 and 2 years old in Lalaua village.
In this initial phase, the program will be implemented in 4 districts of Nampula province, namely Lalaua, Nacala-a Velha, mainland of Mozambique Island and Mocingual until 2020.
The child grant is part of the Basic Social Grant Programme of the National Strategy for Basic Social Security 2016-2024 and is valued at approximately USD 5 million. It is funded by the Government of Mozambique, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom with technical assistance from UNICEF and ILO.
The programme launch was attended by the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Action, Cidália Chaúque de Oliveira, the Administrator of the District of Lalaua, donors and residents of the Village of Lalaua in Nampula.
