The 2017/18 Riksdag session opened at 2 p.m. on Tuesday 12 September. The regional theme for the opening this year was southern Sweden.
At the request of the Speaker Urban Ahlin, King Carl XVI Gustaf declared the 2017/18 Riksdag session open. Prime Minister Stefan Löfven read the Statement of Government Policy and presented the Government's intended policies for the coming year.
