Applications for Schengen visas (Serbia, Montenegro and BiH) - changes

17 dec 2024

Applications for Schengen visas from applicants residing in Serbia or Montenegro will from 9 January 2025 be handled by the Embassy of Sweden in Skopje, North Macedonia. For applicants for Schengen visas residing in Bosnia and Herzegovina the same is applicable from 16 January 2025. The Embassy of Sweden in Belgrade and Sarajevo will no longer handle applications for Schengen visas from these dates.

This means that an individual residing in Serbia, Montenegro, or Bosnia and Herzegovina who would like to apply for a Schengen visa after 9 January or 16 January respectively, will have to visit the office of the external service provider VFS Global in Belgrade or Sarajevo to submit his or her application there. The application and passport will be sent to the Embassy of Sweden in Skopje, which will process and decide on the application. The passport and decision will then be returned to VFS Global in Belgrade or Sarajevo for collection by the applicant.

In addition to the visa fee, applicants will be obliged to pay a service fee of 80 euros to VFS Global, which includes the cost of transport of application and passport to and from Skopje.

Please note that the Embassies of Sweden in Serbia or Bosnia and Hercegovina will no longer be a party to the processing of visas. Consequently, questions regarding visas should be directed to VFS Global’s call center.
