Nordic workshop on sustainable food

Are you curious about where your food comes from? Do you know what happens before a dish of Swedish meatballs ends up on a table? The Consulates General of Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway in Shanghai organized a Nordic workshop on sustainable food in Shanghai on September 26. Speakers from the Nordic countries and China shared their experience in how to improve traceability in the food sector.

The workshop, which took place at EF Education's venue in central Shanghai, attracted an audience of around 100 people from the food industry, media and consumers. Eight speakers, including Magnus Carnwall, the Counsellor of Agriculture and Forestry at the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing, and representatives from Norway in a Box, Danish Crown, the Norwegian Seafood Council, ICA, Hema, Rainbow of Hope and Yimishiji, exchanged their experience of working with sustainable food systems. Topics such as how we can create a traceable and healthy food chain and how to enhance consumers' awareness on food traceability were discussed.
The project was supported by Shanghai International Culture Association, Business Ecology, Business Finland, EF, Fazer, ICA, Oatly, Valio, Scandic Foods Asia and other Nordic and local partners. It is the eighth year that the Nordic consulates have joined hands to organize a Nordic project in Shanghai.
