Currently, the Consulate General of Sweden in Shanghai face a high workload of Schengen visa applications. The processing time for a Schengen visa application is normally 15 calendar days, the Consulate currently makes decisions within this time period. Please note however, that the counting does not start from when the application was submitted to VFS but from the day the application is received at the Consulate in Shanghai. In some cases, the processing time may be extended to 45 calendar days.
The Consulate processes the visa applications according to the receiving dates instead of the departure dates. Please prepare your itinerary well and apply as far in advance as possible, especially during the peak season.
Where the main destination of your upcoming trip is Sweden, residents of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui should submit the Schengen visa application to VFS Shanghai, Hangzhou or Nanjing.
If the Consulate suspects that the main destination is not Sweden or purpose of the trip is not in accordance with the information stated in the application, the application will be dismissed/refused and a decision to revoke your visa will be stored in the Visa Information System (VIS).
If you change your main destination after the Consulate has granted you a visa, border controls may result in you being denied entry upon arrival to Schengen.
