The Embassy of Sweden in Beijing is looking for a candidate who would be able to take up the challenging task as Communications Officer for its Public Diplomacy, Press and Communication section (PDPC).
Workplace
Sweden's Embassy in Beijing is one of Sweden's largest missions. The business is broad with a variety of areas of work such as political and economic monitoring and reporting, science and research, energy issues, defense cooperation, customs cooperation, promotion, cultural diplomacy, public diplomacy and communications, administrative and consular matters. At the Swedish Embassy in Beijing, we value differences, promote gender equality, and oppose discrimination to better enhance the organization's skills.
The Public Diplomacy, Press and Communication section is responsible for promoting Sweden and Swedish interests and values. The section is also responsible for traditional and social media as well as promoting Sweden as a study destination.
Main tasks
- Contribute to The Embassy’s Sweden promotion and various communication projects
- Responsible for managing and analyzing the Embassy’s online presence to ensure our channels are working to reach and engage with the right target audiences
- Generate compelling and creative content for the Embassy’s communication work, such as texts, photos and short videos
- Coordinate education and study promotion activities and liase with alumni network
- Establish and maintain close cooperation with journalists
- Provide communication support to all sections and staff at the Embassy
- Regularly follow and report on social media trends and hot topics
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
- Excellent knowledge and experience of creating content for and managing various social (Chinese) media channels
- Experienced in managing events and projects
- Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese
- Experience and knowledge of the traditional media and social media landscape in China
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Creative, flexible and capable of working independently and in group
Meritorious
- Academic degrees in journalism, communications, marketing, digital media or other related fields
- Experience in photography and photo/video content production
- Experience in or knowledge of Sweden or other Nordic countries
- Experience from working in a cross-cultural environment

- This is a full-time (39.45 hours/week) local position based at the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing. A 6-month probation period will apply.
