Embassy of Sweden seeking Officer to the Section for Communication and Promotion (temporary position starting as soon as possible)

 

The Section for Communication and Promotion coordinates the promotional work of the Embassy, promoting Sweden and Swedish interests in Japan. This includes culture and trade promotion, as well as engaging in public diplomacy on issues such as gender equality and climate change. The section handles digital communication - including active social media accounts - as well as media contacts. The team consist of five people and is headed by the Deputy Head of Mission.

The Section for Communication and Promotion is seeking full-time staff at officer level on a temporary contract until 1 April, with a possibility for prolongation. The areas of work include:

- Plan and support aspects of promotional work and events, in close cooperation with Embassy staff and other sections and offices;
- Handle contacts with external partners and organizations;
- Information and PR work, including digital and printed materials;
- Provide support to other sections at the Embassy when needed, including with incoming visits/delegations and related events.

Previous experience and qualifications:

- An academic degree;
- Relevant work experience, for example project or PR-work;
- Ability to work independently and coordinate contacts with multiple partners;
- Broad knowledge about Japan and Japanese society;
- Language skills: fluency in English is required (English is the working language of the Embassy). A good working knowledge of Japanese language would be considered a merit, as would knowledge of Swedish.
- Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing;
- Experience from work with digital media including web;
- Good teamwork and networking skills;
- Knowledge about Sweden and experience from work in Sweden or with Swedish contacts is desirable.

Please note that this is a full-time position on a temporary contract, with a possibility for prolongation. Starting date is as soon as possible. Employment terms and conditions can be presented upon request.
