Acceptera alla Endast nödvändigaThe second Summit for Democracy took place on 29–30 March. Sweden was represented at the virtual summit and several side events by Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Minister for Foreign Affairs Tobias Billström, Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Johan Forssell and Minister for Culture Parisa Liljestrand.
In addition to delivering a national address, Mr Kristersson took part in a plenary session on how democracy strengthens institutions.
In connection with the Summit, Sweden also hosted several side events in both Washington DC and Lusaka, focusing on research showing how democracies outperform autocracies and the link between democracy and gender equality.
To conclude the Summit, the participating countries presented the commitments made at the first Summit for Democracy in 2021 and adopted a joint declaration.
Sverige har diplomatiska förbindelser med i stort sett alla stater i världen. I ungefär hälften av dessa stater har Sverige ambassader och konsulat. Sveriges utrikesrepresentation består av drygt 100 utlandsmyndigheter.
