The Embassy of Sweden in Guatemala is looking for a Business Promoter and Communications Officer (combined) to join our team in Guatemala City.
The embassy covers bilateral relations between Sweden and Guatemala, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. We are responsible for promoting Sweden's interests and strengthening the bilateral relations with the countries in the region.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Business Promotion: Facilitate partnerships between Swedish companies and Central American entities in areas such as trade, culture, and innovation in collaboration with Business Sweden
- Identify Business Interests: Identify Swedish sectoral business interests in Central America and export opportunities for the Guatemalan private sector to Europe.
- Monitor Opportunities: Monitor Global Gateway and other platforms to identify possibilities for Swedish business interests (e.g., public procurements).
- Coordination: Coordinate with the development section of the embassy.
- Communications Strategy: Develop and implement communication strategies to promote Sweden's image and activities in the region.
- Media Relations: Cultivate and manage media contacts, prepare press releases.
- Public Diplomacy: Plan and execute public diplomacy events and campaigns to enhance Sweden's visibility and influence.
- Digital Presence: Manage the embassy's social media accounts and website, ensuring regular updates and engagement with the audience.
- Content Creation: Produce high-quality content, including photos, videos, interviews, articles, speeches, and promotional materials.
- Networking: Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs, and the private sector.
- Reporting: Monitor and report on media coverage and public opinion regarding Sweden and its activities in the region.
Requirements:
- Education: University degree in business, communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 3 years of professional experience in business, communications, public relations, or a related area.
- Language Skills: Excellent knowledge of written and spoken Spanish and English.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, photo and video editing software, and social media platforms.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- Flexibility: Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under tight deadlines.
- Integrity: High level of reliability and personal integrity.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in International Settings: Previous experience working in an international environment.
- Knowledge of Sweden: Familiarity with Swedish culture, society, and values.
- Event Management: Experience in organizing events and public campaigns.
- Creativity: Experience with photography and ability to develop innovative communication strategies and materials.
