Sweden acknowledges that Qatar has made some progress on gender equality as well as legal reforms to improve the rights of migrant workers. However, serious concerns remain with respect to the human rights situation in the country. Sweden would like to make the following recommendations.

1. Continue to take additional steps to ensure effective implementation and compliance of legislation on migrant worker’s rights, including efforts to promote and strengthen the rights of domestic workers.
2. Implement legislative reforms to ensure women’s equal legal rights, including regarding marriage, divorce, and inheritance.
