Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Swedish Embassy in Maputo Mikael Elofsson participated in the opening of the fourth boot camp on Human Rights, Citizenship and Access to Information, which runs from 10th to 14th July.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Joaquim Veríssimo - Minister of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs, Mrs. Olga Manjate - Representative of the Government of the Province of Maputo, Provincial Director of Labor Employment and Social Security, Mrs. Tereza Helena Mauaie - Administrator of the District of Boane, Agencies of the Nations United Nations, Mr. Holger Wagner - Director of Oxfam in Mozambique, Mr. Fernando Gonçalves - President of MISA Moçambique, students from Mozambican Universities, members of the Youth Parliament and representatives of civil society.
Organized by Oxfam Mozambique, the meeting aims to create a space for debate, learning and sharing of experiences among activists, students, government officials, researchers and journalists on how to strengthen the participation of youth and women in electoral processes in Mozambique.
The initiative is part of the Access to Information and Citizens Engagement (AICE) program aimed at promoting access to information as a prerequisite for transparency and a premise for rights holders to demand respect for their rights and accountability.
The AICE program is part of AGIR (Action for Inclusive and Responsible Governance), a program to support Civil Society Organizations in Mozambique, which is currently in its second phase, scheduled to last six years from 2015-2020. The Swedish Embassy is the main donor of the AGIR program.
