The Embassy of Sweden is looking for an Economist and Team Leader for the Embassy promotion related activities.
The person we are looking for should be capable to follow Mozambique’s economic development and write reports to Sweden on economic and trade policy matter. The position also entails to actively promote Sweden and Swedish businesses in Mozambique, and occasionally in eSwatini and Madagascar and have an overview of the Embassy’s promotion activities including budget.
We are looking for a person with a Master Level in Economics with experience from working with the private sector. The person should have good knowledge on Swedish promotion priority areas, and it is a plus if the candidate has good knowledge of the Mozambican market.
The person we are looking for is a team player who is fluent in English and with verbal and written command of Portuguese. Knowledge of Swedish is a great advantage. Good knowledge of Mozambican and Swedish trade and industry. Knowledge of economic related issues in Madagascar and Eswatini is a plus. The person should have an understanding how it is to work in a multi-cultural environment.
The employee is required to be self-driven; i.e. take the initiative to establish contacts, to network, to stay informed about developments in the economic and trade sectors both at the policy level and on the ground, to explore possibilities for collaboration and business, and to appraise new initiatives on how to integrate development cooperation, trade and promotion (“broader cooperation”).
