Prime Minister Löfven in summit call with Prime Minister Suga

On March 16, Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven spoke for 15 minutes with his Japanese colleague, Prime Minister Suga, their first conversation since Suga’s appointment in October 2020.

The two heads of government confirmed the excellent bilateral relation and looked forward to continued cooperation, especially in the areas of trade and investment. Climate, digitalization, gender equality, and disarmament were other areas where there was scope for close cooperation. Prime Minister Löfven also offered his condolences on the occasion of the 10th commemoration of the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan on March 11, 2011.
