It is not the first time that the Basel Titus Orchester performs a rare or forgotten pearl of orchestral literature. This time the orchestra will take its audience on a musical journey to Scandinavia. On the program is the romantic composer August Söderman from Sweden, who gained notoriety for his ballads and songs in the second half of the 19th century. Through the “Swedish Musical Heritage” organization, the Titus Orchester received the scans of Söderman's concert overture, which will probably be performed for the first time in Switzerland.
Another Swedish component will be Max Bruch's "Serenade nach schwedischen Melodien für Streichorchester". The whole program:
August Söderman (Sweden, 1832−1876)
Konzert-Ouvertüre F-Dur
Bernhard Crusell (Finland, 1775–1838)
Concertino für Fagott und Orchester (1829)
Max Bruch (Germany 1838–1920)
Serenade nach schwedischen Melodien für Streichorchester
Johan Halvorsen (Norway, 1864 – 1935)
Suite Ancienne, op. 31
Orchesterkonzert mit Fagott:
26 March (17:00): Im Tiefen Boden 75, 4059 Basel
