The Swedish embassy is based in Stockholm. What does this mean?

The Stockholm-based ambassadors are Sweden's representatives in some 30 countries where Sweden has no permanent diplomatic representation. The ambassadors are based in Stockholm but make regular trips to the countries in which they are accredited.

The Office to Support Small Missions Abroad (UD KSU) at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Stockholm helps in preparing matters and processing specific issues. There are honorary consulates in relevant countries. The honorary consulate can assist Swedish citizen in consular cases etc, but does not have the same capacity as an embassy.
