House Manager for the Swedish Ambassador to the UN in New York
The Swedish Ambassador to the United Nations in New York is seeking a House Manager with start date January 2, 2025. The position is a full-time position for a one-year term but with the possibility of extension.
We are looking for a professional with experience as House Manager or with experience from positions with similar background. Working hours vary but include work during evening hours and occasionally on weekends.
Main duties:
- Coordinate and execute events at the Swedish Ambassador´s residence such as breakfasts, luncheons, dinners, receptions, meetings and other functions and occasionally perform same duties in the chancery on behalf of the Employer
- Set up, prepare, decorate, arrange flowers and holiday decorations, etc. for all events
- Hire and organize staff as well as waiters for events
- Purchasing necessary items within the Petty Cash guidelines and turn in receipts monthly to the Mission Accountant
- Manage inventory of certain items
- Daily upkeep of the residence, as well as cleaning before and after events
- Book and receive External Vendors to perform maintenance in the Residence e.g. gardening, mechanical, pest control etc.
- Maintain and care of official Residence contents, such as furniture, china, glassware, silverware and art
- Work closely with Mission´s Event Officer, Ambassador´s Executive Assistant and with the Senior Administrative Officer for Government Property
Qualifications:
- Experience and knowledge of food and beverage and event logistics
- A multitasker and a team player
- With organizational skills and not afraid to roll up sleeves
- Have a positive attitude

Employment
- Full time employment for one year but with a six month´s probationary period
- Possibility of extension after first year of employment
- Working hours are 40 hours/week and may occur both during the day and in the evening and occasionally on weekends
- Gross salary range for the position is $5,000-5,500 per month
