The United Nations Human Rights Council concluded its 39th session on Friday 28 September, adopting a total of 23 resolutions. Sweden supported the historic OIC-EU resolution on Myanmar, with strong language on the need for accountability for serious human rights violations. Sweden welcomes important resolutions on maternal mortality and the safety of journalists.
Participating in the 39th session were representatives from 150 states, 303 NGOs and 27 national human rights institutions. The Council is the only intergovernmental body responding to human rights issues and situations worldwide, including with the active participation of civil society organizations.
