The Migration Section at the Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok is seeking applicants to fill the position:
Position Title: Migration assistant
Conditions: Temporary employment from 1 March to 31 July 2025
1. Background:
The Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok represents Sweden in Thailand, Laos and Myanmar. The Embassy represents and promotes Swedish interests in political and economic relations, development cooperation, trade and investment promotion and cultural and information matters. It provides consular services to Swedish nationals and migration services to non-nationals.
The Migration section processes applications for Schengen visas and residence permits for Sweden. Since the Embassy is a hub for visa handling in Asia, the section handles visa applications from Thailand, Myanmar, Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan and South Korea. The section consists of a Head of Section, four adjudicating officers and ten locally employed Migration Assistants, all of whom adhere to a team-based approach in the day-to-day operations of the section.
2. Line of reporting and organisational belonging:
The Migration assistant is part of the Migration Section and reports directly to the Head of Section. Daily guidance and supervision on operational matters is conducted by one of the adjudicating officers who also holds a managerial responsibility and is in charge of the Section in the absence of the Head of Section.
3. Tasks and responsibilities:
The work environment is dynamic and from time to time characterized by high pace. Flexibility and ability to quickly adjust to change and new directives is essential.
The work is team based where assistance to colleagues to level the workload is a natural part of the daily operations.
4. Essential qualifications, skills and experiences:
Knowledge of Swedish and/or any other language spoken in the countries the Section is responsible for is considered as a merit.
Prior administrative work experience with Swedish Governmental Authorities, at a Schengen Embassy or an international organization is also considered a merit.
