One week to go before the high level conference End Violence Solution Summit in Stockholm!
The Swedish government is hosting the conference as part of the Agenda 2030 for Children, in cooperation with End Violence against Children, the Global Partnership and WePROTECT Global Alliance.
Among the speakers are HM Queen Silvia of Sweden and the prime minister of Sweden Stefan Löfven. H.E. Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Marta Santos Pais, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Violence against Children will also be taking the floor. The Council of Europe is sending Deputy Secretary General Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni to participate in the summit, bringing the Council of Europe’s extensive experience of fighting child abuse to the table.
The Solutions Summit will be held every two years and Sweden is first out hosting the event.
One of the goals of the summit is to highlight and share mutually supporting initiatives that advance the cause of children’s rights, and to prevent and bring to an end to all forms of violence against children. This is called for in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and is promoted by the Global Partnership to End Violence.
