Welcome to the Embassy of Sweden in Pretoria, South Africa. Here diplomats from the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and SIDA - The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, a Defence Attaché from the Swedish Ministry of Defence and several local staff members work. The Trade Commissioner works at Business Sweden in Johannesburg.

The Embassy of Sweden in South Africa represents the Swedish government in the Republic of South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Lesotho. 

The Embassy is also responsible for the cooperation with the regional organisation SADC (Southern Africa Development Community) with its head office in Gaborone, Botswana. 

Commerce and trade

The Embassy promotes commercial and trade exchanges between Sweden and South Africa, Botswana and Namibia. In cooperation with Business Sweden, the Embassy assists companies to find business partners and opportunities for trade and investment.

Consular and migration matters

Our consular section assists Swedish citizens who are visiting South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana and Namibia, and South African citizens who are moving to someone, work or study in Sweden.

If you want to visit Sweden and are a citizen of a country outside the EU, you may need a visa.
