On May 20-22, HRH Prince Daniel and a delegation from Prince Daniel’s Fellowship visited Singapore.
The aim of the visit was to study the Singaporean business eco-system with a focus on start-up companies and innovation. During their three-day visit, the delegation met with representatives from GRAB – Southeast Asia’s ride-hailing company, Temasek, DBS Bank, Health Promotion Board, and Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB).
The delegation also visited PSA Singapore – one of the world’s busiest ports, and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), where the delegation was introduced to the university’s work on innovation and entrepreneurship, followed by a tour of some of the research centres on campus.
The delegation also had the great opportunity to listen to an insightful conversation between Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies, and Marcus Wallenberg, Chairman of IVA, on how to engender a culture conducive to spurring innovation and entrepreneurship.
The discussion was followed by an event hosted by the Nordic Innovation House, where a panel of Nordic entrepreneurs based in Singapore shared their business experiences from Singapore and Southeast Asia. Prince Daniel also paid a courtesy call on President Halimah Yacob.
The visit also included a reception at the Swedish residence, hosted by Ambassador Niclas Kvarnström.
