On April 23-24 the Swedish embassies in Singapore and Hanoi together with Swedcham organized a two-day long business delegation to Vietnam. The delegation, including representatives from 13 Swedish companies from many different business sectors was led by the Swedish Ambassador to Singapore Mr. Håkan Jevrell, the Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam Mr. Pereric Högberg and the President of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Singapore Mr. Jan Stjernström.
The programme included meetings with high level representatives from the Vietnamese national and local government focusing on trade and investments opportunities. Meetings also took place with experts from both the financial sector as well as with various representatives from the business community who shared their experiences of doing business in Vietnam.
During the first day in Hanoi the delegation had the opportunity to meet with Hanoi People’s Committee and several ministries such as Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The delegation also met with top Vietnamese economists to learn more about the Vietnamese economy and where it is heading. During the evening Ambassador Högberg invited the delegation to a reception at the Swedish residence where they met with representatives from Vietnamese businesses as well as with Swedish business representatives working in Vietnam. The delegation then travelled to Ho Chi-Minh City for the second part of the programme.
In Ho Chi Minh-city the delegation met with Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and with experts from Ho Chi Minh City’s stock exchange as well as from the Swedish business community. These meetings allowed the delegation to gain insights into what opportunities there are for Swedish companies in Vietnam in general and in Ho Chi Minh City in particular.
The innovation, quality and sustainability that characterize many Swedish companies are highly valued and the chairman of the Ho Chi Minh-city People’s Committee expressed his wish for more Swedish companies to come to Vietnam.
