December 10th marks the Nobel Day with all the festivities held in Stockholm and Oslo. Nobel Day was also celebrated in Singapore with a reception at the Swedish Ambassador’s Residence for the scientific community in Singapore.
For the first time the reception was hosted jointly by the Swedish and the Norwegian ambassador. Tradition has it that the Swedish researchers based in Singapore- currently numbering around 30, are invited and encouraged to bring along a Singaporean or international colleague. Some of them are asked to present the laureates of the year and to introduce the respective achievements in a way understandable to scientists and non-scientists alike. This is not an easy task particularly since they only have 3 minutes at their disposal! Information about the 2019 laureates can be found on: https://www.nobelprize.org/
