Welcome to the Swedish Embassy in Kigali, Rwanda
Ten Swedes work at the Swedish Embassy in Kigali, representing the Swedish Foreign Ministry and Sida. The Embassy's work is led by ambassador-designate Dag Sjöögren. There are also eleven locally employed Rwandans at the Embassy, consisting of program managers within the development cooperation section, and administrative staff.
The Embassy handles the political dialogue with, the political reporting from, and the trade and Sweden promotion in, Rwanda. The Embassy also handles the Swedish development cooperation with the country.
The Embassy is responsible for handling consular matters for Swedish citizens and citizens from Norway and Iceland, but it does not handle visa and resident permit applications to visit Sweden.
Swedish citizens living in Rwanda or visiting the country for more than one month are welcome to visit the Embassy to register their stay in Rwanda. The registration of Swedish citizens is used in case of emergency matters.
