Information regarding citizens of Rwanda applying for a Schengen visa to Sweden

Belgium will no longer process Schengen visa applications for citizens and residents of Rwanda who are applying for a Schengen visa to Sweden.

All visa applications will be processed by the Swedish Embassy in Kenya starting from the 17th of March 2025.

Citizens and legal residents of Rwanda can apply at any of the VFS visa application centers located in the below mentioned countries;

Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Please note that when submitting an application in any of the countries mentioned above you will not be able to keep your passport during the period your visa is being processed. The passport will be sent to the Swedish Embassy in Kenya for processing. The processing time for a Schengen visa is generally 15 days but can also be extended up to 45 days in some circumstances. Please note that the days are counted from when the Embassy has received the application and not when the application was submitted at VFS Global.

Applications and interviews for residence, student and/or work permits are handled by the Swedish Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya, or in Kampala, Uganda.
