Temporary Passport

If you have lost your ordinary passport and need to travel urgently, you can apply for a temporary passport. This passport is issued in paper format (A4) the same day as you apply for it, has a short validity period and is intended for a specific and imminent one-way journey to Sweden.

Requirements and documentation for your application:

  • in person appointment
  • valid Swedish ID
  • flight ticket as proof of your imminent travel
  • police report if regular passport is stolen
  • 3 passport size photos, colored with white background (passport photo guidelines)
  • the form verification of Swedish citizenship
  • Guardian certificate for minors under the age of 18 signed by both guardians if there is joint custody. If only one guardian is applying with their child in person, the other should have already submitted a separate form at another Swedish authority (i.e. the Swedish Police in Sweden). The Swedish authority should e-mail the consent form directly to the Embassy and should not be older than 1 months by the time of application.

    Since the Embassy in Manila is issuing all Swedish temporary passport in the Philippines, please take the shipping time into account. Shipping costs from the embassy will be added.

    Application fee

    It costs the equivalent of 1800 Swedish kronor to apply for a temporary passport. You pay in Philippine pesos at the same time you submit the application. The embassy only accepts cash payment.

    Information about temporary passports

    The passport is in A4-format

    This passport is issued in paper format, has a short validity period, contains no biometric data, and is intended for a specific and imminent one-way journey back to Sweden or to the country of residence. 

    The temporary passport is valid for the specific trip and has a validity period and area of ​​validity adapted to your needs. A temporary passport may not have a validity period longer than seven months. The length of the trip and presentation of a flight ticket must be made in connection with the application.

    Approval by destination country
    It is your responsibility to check if the country you are travelling to and through accepts a Swedish temporary passport in A4 format and that it meets any validity and visa requirements. Please contact the country's embassy or a travel agency for confirmation.

    If the regular passport is lost or stolen

    If you have lost your passport or if your passport has been stolen, you should report it to the police so that you can bring the police report to the embassy when applying for the temporary passport.
