Every fifth year Sweden’s international development cooperation is being evaluated by the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) at OECD. Sweden underwent the examination, also called Peer Review, throughout 2018 and 2019 and today, 12 June, an official launch of the Peer Review is held with Peter Eriksson, Minister for International Development Cooperation. Additional participants include Carin Jämtin, Director-General Sida, Susanna Moorehead, DAC Chair, as well as representatives from the civil society, the business world and administrative authorities.
The government wishes to highlight the review through an inclusive discussion where joint resolutions, for how the Swedish development cooperation can be further improved, will be processed.
The day will consist of an official launch and deep thematic discussions regarding OECD-DAC's recommendations, as well as forward-looking discussions concerning future challenges for development cooperation and Sweden as an actor in a changing world.
In their conclusions OECD-DAC presents Sweden as a leading actor on global sustainable development, with an adaptive, ambitious and influential development cooperation. Peace and conflict prevention, environmental sustainability and climate change, and gender equality are highlighted as specific areas of expertise. The review also identifies areas where Sweden can build on its achievements and become an even more efficient development partner.
