The Embassy of Sweden in Skopje is opening a vacancy for the position of “Ambassador for a Day”

What is expected from the “Ambassador for a Day”?

You will be expected to shadow the Ambassador throughout the day, attend meetings, collaborate with the Embassy staff, and take part in the overall daily activities of the Embassy. At the end of the working day, you will be expected to write a short report on the work you have done.

Your work will start at 08:30 and finish at 16:30h.

All interested candidates are invited to submit the following documents:

• Short Motivation Letter (250 words maximum) explaining why you are interested in this position;
• Short CV where you indicate what you do, what are your interests and what activities you have undertaken to promote or improve the life of the community you live in. It can be an action you have initiated, or taken part in, which promotes equality between girls and boys, provided help for the elderly or the disadvantaged people, care for the environment, etc.;
• Two references (1-2 paragraphs maximum) from someone who knows you well and can recommend you for this position. This can be your teacher or tutor or anyone that knows you well and has seen you in action.
• Written consent from your parents/legal guardians (for girls aged 15-18)

The vacancy opens on October 11th. Interested candidates are invited to submit their application for this vacancy no later than October 25th via e-mail at: ambassaden.skopje@gov.se with a subject line: Application for the #GirlsTakeOver vacancy for “Ambassador for a Day”.

The successfull candidate to take over the position of "Ambassador for a Day" will be notified by October 31st, and the candidate will be expected to perform their duties in the course of the month of November at a date that will be agreed upon between the Embassy and the successful candidate.

In a world where the girls and young women are discriminated against because of their gender and age and are often prevented from getting to important societal positions, the #GirlsTakeOver is a call to action for social and political change to tear down barriers of discrimination and prejudice that continue to hold girls back.

#GirlsTakeOver is a global initative from Plan International whereby girls throughout the world occupy positions of power in connection with International Day of the Girl Child on 11 October. The Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and many Swedish embassies around the world take part in the intiative.
