New EU Visa Policy – New Visa CODE
New EU rules on short-stay (Schengen) visas become applicable from 2 February 2020 not only to Kosovo but globally based on the revision of the common EU Schengen visa policy.
- This is the first update of the visa rules since the EU Visa Code entered into force in 2010.
- The ultimate aim is to ensure more efficient, stronger and consistent EU Visa Policy.
The new visa Code Offers:
Simplified visa applications procedures- applicants should benefit from easier, more flexible and faster visa procedures:
- Based on new Visa Code –visa applicants will be able to submit their applications up to 6 months in advance of their planned trip (9 months for seafarers), instead of the current 3 months, and in most cases, directly from their country of residence.
- Where available, they may also fill in and sign their applications electronically.
Easier travelling for frequent visitors
- Multiple entry visas with longer validity – frequent travellers with a positive visa history can receive a multiple-entry visa.
The Visa Code reform also focuses on reinforcing security of the visa procedure
