Stockholms Akademiska Forum, the Representation of the European Commission in the Netherlands, the Swedish Embassy in the Netherlands and Leiden University Europe Hub proudly invites you to "Europe at the crossroads" Stockholm Explorative Talks BY The Hague
In her Political Guidelines for 2024-29, the President of the European Commission Ursula Von Der Leyen, suggests that Europe finds itself at an important moment in time, including geopolitical shifts, fast-paced digitalization, tangible effects of climate change and blurring boundaries between security and economics.
On 13 November, Klasja van de Ridder, the Head of the Representation of the European Commission in The Netherlands, Johannes Oljelund, Ambassador of Sweden to the Netherlands and René Cuperus, Senior Research Fellow EU & Global Affairs at Institute Clingendael will join in a panel discussion on the political and institutional perspectives on the options we have and the action we need to take to deal with these challenges in Europe.
To inspire and challenge both the audience and panelists to broaden their horizons, the programme will start with a special edition of Stockholm Explorative Talks. Swedish and Dutch prominent academics from very different disciplines will then meet on stage in an unrehearsed, spontaneous and eye-opening conversation on what it means to them to be at the crossroads. They will meet for the first time when taking to the stage and will engage in a free conversation on what we meet, what we dream as well as what we fear, without the guidance of a moderator - and no power point presentations allowed!

Stockholm Explorative Talks have been organized since 2018 by Stockholms Akademiska Forum. By pairing academics and artists from broadly diverse fields in surprising constellations, the events foster inspiring discussions that go back to the very origins of academic interdisciplinary conversations. The Explorative Talks also aim to create bridges between science, policy making and society as a whole.
With the Stockholm Explorative Talks BY The Hague, this inspiring format is for the first time organized outside of Sweden.
