Accept all Only criticalRepresentatives of the Mozambican Tax Authority (AT) participated in the international conference on tax capacity, held in Stockholm, Sweden, on 30th and 31st May. The conference was to support training in the tax area in low- and middle-income countries as part of the Swedish government's 12-point program to combat tax evasion, fiscal flight and money laundering.
Among about 500 representatives from more than 160 countries, Mozambique is represented by the Director General of Alfandêgas, Aly Mallá, the Delegate of the Tax Authority of Maputo Province, Maria Machicoa and Moises Manhique from the Tax Policy Directorate.
The Swedish Ambassador to Mozambique, Marie Andersson de Frutos stated that "For Sweden, efficient and effective tax administration is fundamental to the long-term financing of a functioning society, poverty reduction and the achievement of the goals of Agenda 2030. With the uncovering of natural resources in Mozambique, it is essential that the Mozambican taxation system be comprehensive, transparent and inclusive. "
From 2013 until today, Sweden has supported AT with a total of SEK 36 million, through direct support for TA tax reform and provision of technical assistance from the Swedish Tax Authority.
