Around 60 civil society organisations under the Swedish and Dutch funded AGIR programme gathered on 4-5 September, in Boane, for a joint reflection on the impact of their interventions.
The opening speech was delivered by the Head of Cooperation at the Sweden Embassy in Maputo Mikael Elofsson on behalf of AGIR donors, the Provincial Director of Land, Environment and Rural Development on behalf of the Governor of Maputo Province and by Maria Tadesse – Regional Director of We Effect on behalf of the four AGIR Intermediary Partner Organizations (Diakonia, Oxfam Ibis, Oxfam Novid and We Effect).
Sweden supports the second phase of AGIR (2015-2020) with approximately 800 MSEK. The aim is to strengthen the capacities of Mozambican CSO´s to raise the voice of women and man, encourage them to exercise their rights to participate and influence policy decision making process regarding the social and economic development of their communities.
During the two-day forum, more than 150 members representing 59 CSO´s attended the Consultative Forum out of which 40% were women. The event provided an excellent space for an open and honest dialogue, high quality debate regarding the sustainability of AGIR, decentralization, women’s land rights and others key issues related to the implementation of the AGIR programme.
