The only remaining commercial airline that still flies from Maputo is Ethiopian Airlines. Today, April 9, they have stated to the Embassy that they have flights from Maputo to Stockholm on the following date: April 10, April 15 and April 17. To book a seat on the flight call +258 845 072 366 or email etgsampm@ethiopianairlines.com.
Note that the above flights can be cancelled and that the situation can change quickly, the embassy therefore asks all Swedes to pay attention and follow the situation closely. Ethiopian Airlines depends on air traffic being kept open by the Mozambican authorities and so far Mozambique has not closed down to international air traffic.
Since it is highly uncertain
how the Coronavirus will develop in Mozambique, it will be very difficult to predict
the future, but if the spread of infection increases, President Nyusi may
declare further restrictive measures at short notice. Therefore, temporary travellers
in Mozambique who are not planning to stay in the country for an indefinite time
are urged to consider booking a flight home as soon as possible. The traveller
is responsible for keeping up to date and making sure that you get all the way
to the final destination. Delays occur and travellers may quarantine or be
forced to stay at the destination until air traffic resumes.
In addition to Ethiopian
Airlines having regular flights, a chartered repatriation flight Maputo-Lisbon
will depart from Maputo on April 18. Passengers who wish to transit in Lisbon
are responsible for finding out possible travel options. For other information,
