The embassy's task is to represent Sweden in Morocco and promote relations between Sweden and Morocco.
The embassy monitors and reports on developments in Morocco, including in political and economic matters. The embassy promotes trade and investment between Sweden and Morocco in collaboration with Business Sweden. Furthermore, the embassy works to strengthen the image of and increase knowledge about Sweden in Morocco, as well as promote cultural exchange and tourism between the countries.The embassy also handles consular matters, as well as migration and visa matters. Sweden has limited development cooperation in Morocco, primarily within the framework of the strategy for Sweden's regional development cooperation with the Middle East and North Africa 2021–2025. Sweden has four consulates in Morocco.
Sweden and Morocco have had formal ties since 1763. Sweden has had an embassy in Morocco since 1958, and there has been a Moroccan embassy in Sweden since 1986.
