How can I apply for an emergency passport?

Emergency passports issued by the embassy in Monrovia are in A4 format and are issued for a single trip to Sweden but can in some cases be issued for a specific trip to another country and return. The trip should be imminent.

The emergency passport has a validity period depending on the length of the trip and a maximum of 7 months. You should state the length of the trip and show a flight ticket or booking when applying for an emergency passport.

You must check for yourself whether the country you are going to/transit via  accepts a Swedish emergency passport in A4 format. The easiest way to get the information is to contact the respective embassy or travel agency.

The fee for the emergency passport is 1800 SEK, which is paid in cash in USD at the time of application. Monthley rate is displayed at the embassy.

Please call or send an email to the embassy to schedule an appointment when applying for an emergency passport.

The following is required when applying for a emergency passport:

  • Personal visit
  • Fill in the application form and the citizenship verification in advance, see below.
  • Bring 2 passport photos that can be no more than 6 months old
