The Swedish Embassy in Monrovia do not handle visa application for visits other than Business and Conference visits, read more here. Schengen visas for tourist visits are handled by the VFS Global in Nigeria, you can find more information here.
The Swedish Embassy are unauthorized to handle applications to any other Schengen member state.
Please note that the turnaround time from submitting a complete application to decision is up to 15 calendar days. Applicants are encouraged to apply with good foresight and at least 15 days before departure.
The Embassy reserves the right to use all 15 days, regardless of departure date. A late submission of an application or an incomplete application may well mean that you will miss the departure or that the embassy will reject your application.
The Embassy only accept applications by appointment - not drop-in visits. Please contact the Embassy by email to schedule an appointment.
Swedish citizens who need to renew their passport should plan a trip to Sweden. It is cheaper to apply for a passport in Sweden than at an embassy and it usually only takes a few working days before the passport can be picked up.

You can also apply for a passport at the Swedish Embassy in Abuja. Always contact the embassy to schedule an appointment before you travel to the embassy.
Emergency passports issued by the embassy in Monrovia are in A4 format and are issued for a single trip to Sweden but can in some cases be issued for a specific trip to another country and return. The trip should be imminent.
The emergency passport has a validity period depending on the length of the trip and a maximum of 7 months. You should state the length of the trip and show a flight ticket or booking when applying for an emergency passport.
You must check for yourself whether the country you are going to/transit via accepts a Swedish emergency passport in A4 format. The easiest way to get the information is to contact the respective embassy or travel agency.
The fee for the emergency passport is 1800 SEK, which is paid in cash in USD at the time of application. Monthley rate is displayed at the embassy.
