2. Visa Liberalization for Kosovo?

Starting from the 01.01.2024 citizens of Kosovo can travel without a visa to the Schengen area (incl. Sweden) for short - term stays of up to 90 days within a period of 180 days. 

Attention: You still need a residence permit, if you intend to work or stay longer than 90 days.

Calculating travel dates

Visa free travel enables you to stay up to 90 days in a 180 day period in Sweden and in the Schengen area. When you enter the area, the days are calculated from this date. You will receive an entry stamp to your passport.

You are responsible for making sure you travel within the dates of your visa or within the dates of visa free travel.

I have already used all the 90 days of visa free travel. When can I travel again?

If you have already used the 90 days, you must wait outside the Schengen-area for another 90 days before you can travel visa free again. Pay attention to the 90/180 day rule.

I have already used the 90 days of visa free travel but I have to go back to Sweden or to the Schengen-area again. What should I do?

If you have used all of your visa free days and you must travel again due to for example work or study, you must apply for a long term permit from your country of destination. If this related to you, please contact the Embassy of Sweden in Skopje.

The decision on entry to a member state and to the Schengen area is made by the border guards. All questions on entry should be directed to the border guard of the member state, which is the first point of entry.
