Accept all Only criticalThe Japan Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare is updating the list of permitted food additives.
On June 20, 2023, Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) announced that they will initiate a survey of 78 food additives currently not in frequent use in Japan, which may result in the additives being removed from the list of permitted additives. Once the additives are removed from the list, sale or use of products containing the additives will be banned in Japan. Comments on the initiative, including requests that additives are not removed, may be sent to the MHLW. Comments from companies possibly affected may also be sent to the embassy or to the EU-delegation in Japan by September 8, 2023.
For more information please see the official website of MHLW
