About the film "The King"
Is it possible to make an unexpected film about a monarch? Yes, this film is the answer. A modern, humorous, artistic, and sad film about the Swedish king Carl XVI Gustaf in settings we rarely otherwise see him. In the course of two years, the director Karin af Klintberg gets to interview him. The film consists of their meetings, intermixed with scenes from the spectacle that surrounds him. The king was only nine months old when he became crown prince and his father died in a plane crash. He grows up with an obligation from which he cannot escape.
