
Sweden and Japan have taken an important step forward in deepening their bilateral relationship with the adoption of a Joint Statement on Economic Cooperation on 5 February 2026. The statement was signed by Ms. Sara Modig, State Secretary, Ministry of Climate and Enterprise of the Kingdom of Sweden and Mr. Takehiro Matsuo, the Vice-Minister for International Affairs, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI).
