The Swedish Dialogue Institute for the Middle East and North Africa had a busy 2022, hosting, co-hosting, and participating in many conferences, webinars, meetings and other activities. In parallel, the establishment of the Institute progressed, with hiring of new staff and preparations for moving into our new permanent office.
After moving into its new permanent premises in Amman, the Institute was formally inaugurated in connection with the state visit to Jordan by H.M. King Carl XVI Gustaf in November 2022. In 2022 the Institute’s Advisory Committee was appointed and held its first meeting back-to-back with a regional forum on ‘Inclusivity in Peace and development’.
Since then, the Dialogue Institute has continued to build on its programmes and activities in line with its mandate and strategy. The Institute has been hosting, co-hosting, and participating in conferences, webinars, meetings, and other activities on topics such as Climate change, Intercultural dialogue and the agendas on Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) and on Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS).
In this annual report you will find the highlights of the Dialogue Institute’s main activities during 2022, within its three main interconnected focus areas: Peace and Security, Sustainable Development, and Inclusive Participation, as well as on EU-MENA relations.
