Artist: Akke Kumlien (1884-1949)
Axel (Akke) Ragnar Kumlien (1884-1949) was a Swedish painter, designer and writer.
Akke Kumlien became a licentiate of philosophy in 1914 and an amanuensis at the National Museum in 1916. In his landscape paintings he shows the influence of Édouard Manet and the Impressionists.
Akke Kumlien was a skilled calligrapher. He also acted as artistic advisor to P.A.Norstedt & Söner 1916-1949. He designed Svenskt Tenn's emblem in 1924, and the logos for NK, Radiotjänst, Stockholms Auktionsverk and Sparbankens ek are also the work of Kumlien. He also designed the August Strindberg stamp, which was issued in 1949.
He is represented in the National Museum, the Norrköping Art Museum and the Östersund Museum, among others.
