Artist: Brita Molin (1919-2008)

Brita Molin (1919-2008) was a visual artist, graphic artist and draughtswoman. In the 1940s she studied with both Isaac Grünewald and Otte Sköld at their respective painting schools, before continuing her education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm and Atelier 17 in Paris from 1963-65.

Like her peers, Molin had a kind of abstract-expressionist imagery with broad strokes, indicative of a passionate interest in colour. In the mid-20th century, many visual artists were interested in music in their work, where colours become tones and works are built up like melodies. This also characterises Brita Molin's art.

Molin is represented at the National Museum in Stockholm and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, among others.
