Artist: Emil Hagström (1892-1982)
Carl Emil Hagström (1892-1982) was a Swedish painter and conservator. Hagström studied under Carl Wilhelmson from 1919 to 1920 and during study trips to several countries in Europe. For several years he pursued his art as a hobby alongside his work as a painting conservator.
Although he participated in a few exhibitions with the Swedish General Art Society in the 1920s, he made his debut as an artist with a solo exhibition at Modern Art in the Home Environment in 1942, which was followed up with an exhibition at Färg och Form in 1950. His art consists of floral motifs, figurative objects, portraits and landscape paintings from Öland, Härjedalen and the Stockholm region, as well as decorative works such as frescoes with antique motifs. Hagström is represented at the National Museum, Moderna Museet, Stockholm City Museum, Kalmar Art Museum and Eskilstuna Art Museum.
