The well-known Swedish author of children’s books, Astrid Lindgren, 75 years ago (on 21 May) presented to the world the remarkable girl, Pippi Longstocking.
Pippi is probably the best known and loved of all the characters Astrid Lindgren created. The girl who lives all alone in the big villa, with her horse and monkey. Being rebellious, but kindhearted, she can take care of herself and most importantly stand up for herself.
From her first appearance in 1935 Pippi has been an inspiration for children all around the world. The Pippi-books have been translated to 77 languages.
