Updated information on handling of Schengen visa applications at the Swedish Consulate following the covid-19 pandemic

05 Oct 2021

The temporary entry ban to Sweden is in place until October 31 but it might be extended.

Depending on the development of the epidemiological situation both within and outside the EU, travel restrictions may be eased or reintroduced.

Please note that all travelers are responsible for verifying the travel restrictions in place before departure.

It is also important to note that an issued visa is not a guarantee for entry into Sweden or the Schengen area. The Swedish Border Police will determine whether a person meets the entry conditions. This assessment will be made at the border control point.

For updated information on the entry ban to Sweden, and its exemptions, please visit the website of the Swedish Police Authority.

Please note that the Consulate will not be able to do any assessments or answer any additional questions related to the entry ban or categories exempted from the entry ban.
