The current Covid-19 outbreak and lockdown in Shanghai

30 May 2022

The outbreak of Covid-19 and the current total lockdown of the city of Shanghai with numerous severe restrictions is difficult for all and poses many problems to everyday life.

The Consulate General of Sweden is following developments very closely and works to find the best pragmatic solutions in each urgent case affecting the Swedish community notably in close cooperation with other EU Member countries’ representations as well as with the Nordics.

To avoid any risk of disseminating incorrect information, the Consulate General does not forward non-official information on our digital platforms.

Status reports about the number of contaminated cases are disseminated daily by the competent Chinese authorities, who also give regular press conferences on Covid related issues.

We advise you to follow the instructions and recommendations of local authorities on issues of Covid control and restriction measures.

Swedish citizens are encouraged to register on the list of Swedish nationals and to download the app UD Resklar.

You can always reach the Consulate General of Sweden in Shanghai by mail at generalkonsulat.shanghai@gov.se. If you or your family members need consular support, you can reach the Swedish Foreign Ministry's consular hotline on +46 8 405 50 05.

For questions regarding visas, residence and work permits, please contact us at generalkonsulat.shanghai-visum@gov.se.
